Brody's Bobcat

Our last pack meeting was a lot of fun because Brody earned his bobcat and he got to dress like a character from his favorite book. He dressed like Jack from The Magic Tree house Series. I guess it must be a popular book for kids his age because quite a few of them were the same character. Well when it got it be time for Brody to go up there, he told everyone that his favorite book was this Spy book and he gave a very animated (as you can see) account of his book. Afterward, I asked him why he made up the story. He looked at me like I was so out of it, "Mom, I just didn't want to be like every one else! That's boring!"

TJ's tennis lessons

TJ has been taking tennis lessons for the last few months with one of his buddies. He has really enjoyed it. He wants to play this winter too, so we'll see how it goes. When I was watching him play it just made me want to get out there and play with him. I told him maybe he could give me a few pointers to improve my game. Well, I need serious help with anything athletic, but it would be fun!

Coloring

I just wanted to show a little example of how the girls color. This is how Charli colors...

...and this is how Lyssa colors.

Brody's Last football Game

Brody's last flag-football game ended up being on the rainiest Saturday of the year!Of course it didn't seem to bother him a bit. Travis braved it & watched in the rain. I wimped out, so the girls & I watched him from the car. When I told him I was going to do this, he asked,"Who will cheer for me?" Well, we did cheer for him, especially Lyssa. She'd yell,"Go Brody!" out the car window, and Brody said he could totally hear her. We all know where my children get their loudness from! But, in situations like these, it's not too bad being a loud-talker!

Another thing that was so cute, was that Brody said, "Mom, isn't it great that we won every game?" I asked him if he was sure about that, and he said, "Mom, you know that if the other team cheats, we automatically win!"

He also asked me if I saw him make all those tackles. I told him that I thought they weren't supposed to tackle, and he said that he just couldn't help it!

He also told me that Coach told him to dive for the flags if they had to, and I'll tell you that Brody took that to heart! Sometimes he'd dive for a flag, and then stay down for a while.

He had the greatest time & the best coach!

Ward Luau

Our ward had a really fun activity the other night. We started the evening off by "flying" to the island. We "arrived," got our pictures taken, the pig was brought in, and the feast began.

The kids were fascinated with the pig. I think it was their favorite part of the whole night. Lots of kids, including mine, were carrying around the bones. Eeew!!

Next, we had a hula hoop contest and played limbo. It was fun watching the kids, but then they pushed me up to the stage for the hula hoop contest. I haven't done that for years, and surprisingly enough, I won!

That activity really made me miss Hawaii! Hopefully, it won't be too long before we can all go there again! It's just the best place! We had such a blast there!

Corn Maze

Every year we all look forward to going to the corn maze. The kids love it because they always find friends there, and they can have all the popcorn, soda, chips and hot dogs they want! Here TJ, Brody, and their friends are at the top of a platform that overlooks the maze.

Trav and I try to divide and conquer. I tried to stay with Brody, Lysssa, and his friends, and Trav had the others. We passed each other a few times, and it wasn't until about 20 minutes into the maze that we realized that Trey had wandered off. I thought Travis had him, and he thought Trey was with me. I was in a panic, and Trav was frantically running through the maze. I told the people in charge and they were using their walkie-talkies to find him. After about 20 minutes Travis found him out of the maze, with his friend. I asked him if he was scared, and he said, "When I couldn't find you, I just got out of the maze and played with my friend!" Our little Mr.Independence!

We call Trey our "Harry Houdini," because from the time he was tiny that kid could find a way out of any situation if he wanted to. And so even though we were stressed most of that night,Trey wasn't a bit concerned we got seperated!

Brody's flag football

This fall Brody decided to play Flag Football with a few of his buddies. He said that his favorite position was hiker. He also said he was the best hiker on his team.He had a blast! He is the one in the red shorts.

He loved his coach! A few of you may recognize him. Brody wrote on a school paper that his favorite thing to do was to play football because he had the best coach!

Brody loved playing. Sometimes he was quite intense! He is about to take this kid down!

Here he is with one of his buddies!
