A Relaxing Weekend

Nothing really significant happened this weekend. It was kind of nice! We got to hang out together and do stuff as a family. Trey got to bring the class bear home this weekend, and since I had to take some pictures for him, I thought I'd post them. Trey also wanted to show Grandma and Grandpa the Legos he picked out with the bithday money they sent him! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa! He loves Legos and is so proud that he doesn't need any help putting them together! There is also a picture of him making a fort with his bear and lots of his stuffed animals. It's really a favorite game of mine that the children play- but it's worth it because it provides hours of fun! In the last picture Trey is in our Family Room cabinet. That's also a favorite game! We sure are excited to see everyone in Utah this week! Infact, I was just telling Lyssa today that we are going to Utah soon and that she could see Grandma and Gracie and Sydney... and she said, "And Lala!" So there you go miss favorite Aunt Laura! We can hardly wait to see you too! We'll see you all in a few days!! Yeah!

Brody's Basketball Game

Brody had his first basketball game Saturday. I thought he was going to go a little easy because of his stiches, but that didn't slow him down much at all! Things seem to be healing nicely, and hopefully, we won't have any accidents for a while! Brody and his team had a great time playing together! They even won their first game! The kids seem to really get their athletic skills from me! Ha! Just kidding! Luckily, Travis is athletic, because I am the opposite of athletic! I am about as coordinated as Bella Swan! Perhaps all the recent accidents are due to the genes I've given them.

Trey's Birthday

We had a busy Friday! Trey had his party and we got to celebrate the whole day! He decided to have a Mickey Mouse Party, and we made pizzas, played games, and had a great time! It was fun seeing Trey interact with his firends. He has really grown up so much this year. He and his friends played really well together. They mostly tackled each other the whole time. There were lots of dog piles. They were pretty rough with each other, and I was really glad that no one got hurt! I guess that's how boys express their feelings- by taking each other down! Every day when I go to get Trey from school, he runs out, throws his backpack down, and he and several other boys start chasing each other, then they tackle each other, and end up in a dog pile. I have to practically tear him off the other kids to leave. They have a lot of fun together. What I remember most about Trey when he was a baby and a toddler was his smile. He always smiled. He didn't say much, but he would melt your heart with his sweet smile. He has always been very independent, and he just makes his own fun. He can entertain himself for hours! He is also very sweet with his sisters, and will play what they want to quite a bit (especially as long as the older boys aren't there to tease him for playing a "girl game"). He is our toughest kid, and I don't know if that's because he is in the middle or what, but it's a good thing. The older boys know not to mess with him, cuz if they do, they better run! He used to get frusterated a lot and had a bit of a temper, but these days he has really mellowed, and has found better ways to solve his problems. His little smile is still my favorite thing about him, and I love his laugh! He has turned into quite the jokester lately too! Trey we love you!! (Notice Trey's pose and smile in every picture...I don't know why, but he puts his arms up and smiles with an open mouth all the time! I guess this is his pose.)

TJ's Spelling Bee

TJ won his school's spelling bee!! We couldn't believe it! He first took a written test a couple of weeks ago, then that narrowed it down to 30 kids. After school on Friday they had the actual spelling bee. When they were down to the final 2, it was TJ and one of his best friends Cole. TJ won on the word apostrophe! Travis had been studying with him the night before, so when TJ got that word, Travis knew he had it because it was one of the words they really worked on! Way to go TJ!

Brody's Blue and Gold Banquet

This evening started out great! Brody earned lots of pins and belt loops, so he was excited, we got to eat a great dinner, Brody got to run around and play with his buddies, we got to square dance and I even have a couple of cute stories to tell. After dinner, they told the scouts to go find their moms to dance with. Brody came over and I said, "Brody, let's go!" And he said, "Hey- I wanted to ask Grandma to dance!" Cute Huh? Then while we were dancing, Trey asked grandma if grandpa was coming. She told him that he couldn't because he had some meetings. Trey responded, "Aww, I think that he would really like dancing with me!" The little joke behind that one is that while the boys play on the wii at their house, when grandpa hears the music playing he always says, "Come on Trey, let's dance! This music really makes me want to dance!" At first he was joking around with Trey, as he was trying to distract him while he was playing... but then he did it several more times, so now when my dad asks Trey to dance, he always does! Anyway, unfortunately this night did take a turn for the worse...
We were helping with the clean up and so I told Trav that he might as well take the girls home, and I would help clean up. Brody was thrilled with this because he was having a blast playing football with the scouts. After a few minutes I saw that he had hurt himself. Luckily, there happened to be 3 people there who were EMT's. They looked at him and told me that he would need stiches! GREAT! He ended up hurting himself when he was playing football. He had taken off his shoes (sick!) and when he was catching a pass his heel slid across the metal floor boards of the gym. We went to the after hours clinic and he was so brave. He was very concerned because basketball started this week, but the doctor said that he could play after a week or so. Here is the picture a day and a half after the stiches were put in.He went to school the next day (after we got him some crocs since he couldn't wear his regular shoes) and said that it was really cool because everyone gave him lots of attention! Two of his best buddies can hardly wait to see the stiches! He's doing great now, he hasn't slowed down a bit!

Weekend with my WHOLE family!

This last weekend was such a blast! My sister Tara, and her husband Don, flew in. We had a mini-reunion! 0n Friday evening we had our traditional adults Christmas dinner- out. My parents have done this for us for several years now, and I have to say, is one of my favorite parts of the holidays! Not that doing things with kids isn't fun, but when just the adults are there, you actually get a chance to talk! It was great visiting, and then we asked Don a million questions about his job on the police force. He has had some wild experiences! We were all fascinated! It was funny too, because Tara kept saying, "Don't tell that one at dinner!" We all had a great time and we are hoping to visit them this summer. Since Don has had this job Travis has just been itchin' to go on a ride-along with him! Oh yes, the boys want to go too, but of course they can't. We'll just have to find other fun things to do! But one funny story that my Dad told us, is that about a year ago he went where they live on a business trip and he was heading to visit Tara and all of the sudden sees lights flashing in back of him. He couldn't understand why he was being pulled over because it was snowing really hard so he wasn't speeding or anything. It wasn't until he looked up when the officer asked for his license and registration that my Dad realized it was Don. It just didn't occur to him. But Don had it planned out. He told us that he was going to have his partner go to the car and ask my Dad to step out of the car and then proceed to cuff him, but he decided he better not. What a great joke! I asked him if he would do that when we came out because the kids would love it! Anyway, it was a grea night!

MY WHOLE FAMILY ON THE LEDUC SIDE

In these next couple of pictures Charli, Lauren (Nikki's girl) and Alyssa are riding their big wheels. Charli and Lyssa got this from Grandma Hall and they have loved it. They just aren't quite big enough for their big bike yet.



The kids had a great time being together! They played most of the day in my parent's basement. The little girls only colored on one thing- the door! I swear! I don't know how to make this stop!




Here's Brody playing the wii they got from Grandma LeDuc for Christmas. It works out great because it is only for Grandma's house. That way I don't have to listen to the fighting it would cause, and my kids won't turn into zombies from paying video games all day, every day! It's a perfect compromise.

Here are some sister shots. It was funny because we took lots of pictures, and we couldn't find one we all liked. We were trying to make poses that wouldn't show double chins! You'll see the final one they chose of me laying on them...I don't think this helps me out! It was great sister bonding!



We wanted Don to show us some "submission holds," that he uses in his job, so we volunteered Brody! This is Don taking him down! It was awesome!! Now...if we can only incorporate these moves into our disciplining!
