Trey's fieldtrip to the farm

Trey has been looking forward to the fieldtrip at the farm all year long! They went to the farm right before the chicks in their classroom hatched. They had been studying about chicks and all farm animals, so the kids were totally ready to go. I was able to go and I was so thankful for that. We had a great time, but Trey was a little afraid of the animals. I was so glad I was there, because I was holding him most of the time. He didn't make a big deal about anything, or cry, but he couldn't climb up fast enough if the dogs walked by, or any of the animals got too close. There were pony rides, a petting zoo and a hay ride. We just watched for all of the activities except the hay ride. We just kind of kept our distance. Despite everything, he had a great time. He loved riding on the bus, and I loved watching him with his friends. He is Mr. Social this year! When I get him from school every day I have to wait for about 10 minutes while he runs around with his buddies. He totally ignores me until most of the kids are gone. Then he'll come and get in the car. I can hardly believe that almost a whole school year has gone by. I was so nervous about how he would do in school. And this year has been absolutely great!

Movie Night

Almost every weekend we try to have Family Movie Night. We make the yummy pizza (that Kristy gave us the recipe for- THANK YOU KRISTY!) and we watch a movie together. On this night we watched "Mall Cop." We all loved it. My favorite part was seeing how much the kids loved it. They would laugh so hard at things! There is nothing better than hearing kids laugh!

General Conference

I will have to say that being able to go to General Conference at the Conference Center is an amazing oportunity. Travis and I decided that we would do this every time that my Dad could get us tickets. At first it was just Travis, myself and my parents. Now that TJ and Brody can both go, it's even better. I appreciate Travis' parents for watching our younger kids so we can do this. I feel so guilty because I know that aren't getting nearly as great of an experience. I doubt they can even listen with the kiddos running around. Thank you Mom and Dad- we love you! One other tradition we have that is part of the conference experience is going to eat at Crown Burger. I think that most people who go to conference go there because it is soo busy. Busy... but absolutely worth it. We all chuckle at the amount of food that Brody and TJ order. It's a real treat!

Conference

Spring break was perfect this year as it fell the week before conference. We got to stay a whole week rather than a couple short days. It was so relaxing and the kids had so much fun playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house and with their cousins. They even challenged Grandpa to a game of Monopoly. What a good sport, he played with them for quite a long time too! We appriciate everyone letting us invade their houses and for taking time out to see and visit with us! The kids could hardly stand waiting during the day for their cousins to get out of school so they could play. What a great family! Thank you all for everything! On one of the days we went swimming and that was lots of fun as well! After we went to eat, and I just love watcing the kids loading their plates up. They pick such funny things to eat. I know that for the dessert course Trey and several others had a plate of jellybeans and gummy bears. And TJ told me that the older kids were trying to see who could eat the most ice cream cones. I think Justyn ate like 13 or something like that! I think our food bill is horrible now, but if our kids eat like Justyn, Travis will have to get another job! Just kidding, but I just love being around the family and the kids have the best time with each other! One last memory- one night we were at Reed's house and Jenna and Trey were having a great time playing the wii. So after we left Jenna told Allyson that she had a fun with Trey, and then she said something like, "Trey used to be kind of mean. Remember how he scratched my face? Well, he's nice now."

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I'm late posting this but I wanted to do it because it's a cute picture! In Trey's class on St. Patrick's Day they made magic Leprachan pie, their teacher gave them a gold nugget from a Leprachan, and they even tried to trap one. It was a fun green day!

Brody's Pine Wood Derby

Let me just begin by saying that I love Cub Scouts, but I'm not a fan of the Pine Wood Derby. Some little boy always ends up crying because his car didn't win. Usually, it was my child who was upset because he was just so competitive(and the fact that the first year his wheels fell off his car onto the track and Travis tried to hot glue them on, but it was a total disasster! He was so upset and asked, "Dad, why couldn't you make me a good car?"). I tried telling him every year that it didn't matter who won, what counted was the time you got to spend with your Dad making something really cool. But, he still wanted to be the fastest. Anyway, I was hoping this year might be different with Brody because he's seen TJ the past few years, and he's not nearly as competitive. Well, wouldn't you know it, Brody's car did really well. He was so cute during the activity though, because he was trying to talk to the boys whose car wasn't winning much and trying to make them feel better. I was proud. When it came time to announce the winner, the kid who had the fastest car went up to get his ribbon, and then they said, "the second place winner is..." Brody just got up and started walking to get his prize. Luckily he did win second place, but how the heck did he know that? I asked him and he said, "I just knew I got second!" He was so excited and it was a really happy night.
